About Me

I am an experienced infrastructure, cloud and cybersecurity professional with extensive experience supporting, managing and modernising business technology environments.

My career has developed from frontline IT support into infrastructure engineering, systems administration, cloud technologies, identity management, cybersecurity and IT leadership.

Today, I focus on building secure, resilient and scalable technology platforms while continuing to explore emerging technologies, share practical knowledge and contribute to professional conversations across the technology community.

Professional Journey

A professional journey shaped by practical technology environments.

Technology has been at the centre of my professional journey.

I began in IT support, where I learned that successful technology is not simply about keeping systems online. It is about understanding people, solving business problems and creating environments in which organisations can operate effectively.

As my experience developed, my responsibilities expanded from end-user support into systems administration, infrastructure engineering, networking, virtualisation, Microsoft technologies, cloud platforms, identity management and cybersecurity.

Throughout my career, I have designed, implemented, supported and improved technology environments across different organisations and industries. My work has included Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy, Microsoft 365, Microsoft Azure, Microsoft Entra ID, endpoint management, virtualisation, networking, backup and recovery, infrastructure monitoring and security technologies.

I have also contributed to infrastructure modernisation, cloud adoption, operational resilience, technical documentation, security improvements and the standardisation of technology environments.

My current interests include secure cloud infrastructure, identity-first security, Microsoft security technologies, automation, platform engineering and the practical use of artificial intelligence in cybersecurity and IT operations.

Technology is not simply about deploying tools. It is about building systems that support meaningful business outcomes.

For me, technology is not simply about deploying tools. It is about building secure, reliable, scalable and well-managed systems that support meaningful business outcomes.

My Philosophy

Technology should simplify complexity, not create more of it.

The strongest technology environments are not necessarily those with the largest number of products or the most complicated architectures. They are the ones that are deliberately designed, properly documented, securely configured and continuously improved.

Security by Design

Security should influence every technology decision rather than being introduced after implementation.

Reliability Through Discipline

Reliable systems are built through good architecture, documentation, monitoring, testing and operational discipline.

Simplicity Wins

Unnecessary complexity increases operational and security risk. Clear, maintainable solutions are often the strongest solutions.

Automation with Purpose

Automation should reduce repetitive work while allowing people to focus on judgement, strategy, problem-solving and higher-value decisions.

Technology Must Serve the Business

Technology should remain aligned with organisational goals, user needs and measurable business outcomes.

Continuous Learning

Technology, threats and business requirements never remain static. Continuous learning is essential to remaining effective.

Whether I am designing infrastructure, investigating an operational issue, improving security or evaluating a new technology, I aim to combine technical quality with practical business value.

Certifications

Structured learning alongside practical experience.

I view certifications as a complement to practical experience rather than a substitute for it. They provide structured learning, validate foundational knowledge and reflect a commitment to continued professional development.

These areas reflect my continued interest in how infrastructure, identity, cloud and security can work together to create more resilient technology environments.

Beyond Technology

Curiosity, writing, mentorship and community.

Outside of my professional work, I enjoy exploring emerging technologies, sharing practical knowledge and supporting people who are developing careers in technology. I also enjoy watching movies, football.

I contribute as a mentor through STEM Ambassadors and Meet a Mentor. Through these programmes, I support people who are exploring technology careers, building confidence and discovering where infrastructure, cloud, identity and cybersecurity can take them.

I believe some of the best ideas emerge through collaboration, curiosity and the willingness to share what we know with others.

For me, growth in technology is not only about gaining more technical knowledge. It is also about improving how we communicate, collaborate, lead and help other people progress.

The Journey Continues

Technology is constantly evolving, and so is my professional journey.

This website is where I document what I learn, what I build and the lessons I gain from working with modern infrastructure, cloud and security technologies.

Whether you are a fellow engineer, a recruiter, a hiring manager, a technology leader or someone exploring a career in technology, I hope you find something here that is useful, practical and worth returning to.
